Starting a relationship with a doula early can help create a shared vision of the experience and support you would like.

I invite you to consider if any of these options would be helpful for you and your birth partner(s) during pregnancy.
A dedicated person always available for you to call with any questions or concerns.
Your own personal guide for birth preparation and techniques designed for you and your partner: Do you prefer to be in the privacy of home for this guidance?
Ideas for preparation with your doula
Guided Partner Preparation & techniques: Have your Partner(s) practice like it was birth time: helping you with different position's for resting and progressing, use available tools like the birth ball or peanut ball, and comfort touch. It's great for your partner to practice so they feel more confidence in their role to support you when they find your communication changes so much as you move through the different experiences of birth.
Design your birth plan with your own personal assistant that could include a template and evidence based information, asking your midwife or Ob questions, learning about what to expect and plan for to make your birth suite or home set up for the experience you desire.
These are nice options, how about when I go into labor? What can a doula do for us then?
A birth doula can help you focus on your birth while the doula takes care of your preferences for you birth space and support. Does it sound nice to rest assured someone is there to guide your partner with ways they can connect, comfort, and empower you when it's not easy or desired to explain or guide them yourself.
